Eureka! Liverpool and Fulham reach Europa League semis after week of woe
They’ve done it again. Not content with knocking out UEFA Cup holders Shakhtar Donetsk and two-time European Cup winners Juventus, Fulham made it a trio of big-name scalps by beating the Bundesliga champions.
Roy Hodgson led his team into the semi-finals of the Europa League and a last-four meeting with Hamburg later this month after a battling away win against Wolfsburg following Bobby Zamora’s first-class finish after just 21 seconds.
And, unlike Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson after his side’s defeat by Bayern Munich, there would be no talk of ‘typical Germans’ from Hodgson. Only three German players started the match for Wolfsburg and it was Fulham who looked the more confident, resolute and organised of the two sides. @Dailymail
