Queiroz: Ronaldo better than Rooney

Carlos Queiroz, Portugal’s national coach, reckons Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo is the top player in world football right now.

The debate is raging around the world about who is better seeing as the Portuguese ace’s £80m departure for Real Madrid has seen Wayne Rooney blossom.

Speaking at a pre-World Cup coaching conference this week Queiroz, who worked with both players whilst at Manchester United from 2005 until 2008, was full of praise for the way Rooney has taken over Ronaldo’s mantle, but reckons the Portuguese ace just has the edge. @Soccerway
