England worthy favourites but beware of Argentina
HAVING taken Switzerland to the World Cup, I know that the first concern of any coach is getting his team out of their group and it’s an exciting draw for England, as it gives them a good chance of progressing. I don’t think Fabio Capello could be much happier with the teams he has been given to play against. The one blight is being paired with Group D.
The USA, Slovenia and Algeria all have good players and some who play for English clubs but almost none, Fabio Capello will be aware, who would get into his England team. Should England reach the round of 16 they will face one of Germany, Serbia, Australia and Ghana, all pretty strong opponents when the knockout stages begin.
But looking at Group D and Group G, where Brazil face Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea, England will know it could have been a lot worse. [+]
